The Rymer Trees Story

Rymer Trees is a passion project for our directors, whom all have their own expertise and experience in arboriculture, horticulture and farming. The need for tree stock produced in the UK is becoming more apparent, whether for biosecurity reasons, or just political. The team recognised this and wanted to act upon it to make sure there is good quality, responsibly sourced tree stock to fulfil the many tree planting projects. It is essential to all involved that the stock is produced in a responsible way, ensuring the trees all get given the best chance to do good. We don't just want planted trees - we want established trees. At Rymer Trees, we are proud to say we are the only wholly peat-free, cell-grown tree nursery in England.

The first trees out on the hardening off area were these UK native Acer campestre (field maple). The cell grown trees are still small so the peat free compost is on display

What we do.

We specialize in producing cell-grown trees with robust root systems. We believe that cell-grown trees are the easiest to plant, and more importantly, establish in the UK landscape. Our stock is grown in peat-free compost to help reduce the demand on the planet’s wetlands and lower the carbon emissions associated with the industry. We adopt IPM (Integrated Pest Management) practices to minimize our use of chemicals, and our team ensures that we use responsible and environmentally friendly methods. You can see and hear this in summer before coming through our gate. We are proud to hold certifications from Plant Healthy and UKISG, which speak to our commitment to sustainable and responsible practices.
